THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
ROCKIN' THE SHOCKING
Inspo for your interior can literally come from anywhere - artwork, fashion, greeting cards, soft furnishings, food and nature just to name a few.
Here at Miss Lolo, we love fashion as much as we love interiors; so, it's unsurprising to find fashion influencing our design ideas. Don't be afraid to take inspiration from outside the box sources either - I once based a bedroom's colour palette on some gorgeous gift wrapping - true story. Likewise, a beautiful plate of food or a colourful cocktail, can equally feed the imagination for your next interior project.
MOOD-BOARD MASTERCLASS...
Pin your faves, take photos and keep cut outs to create your own mood-board of ideas as this will help identify any themes / styles / colours etc that you are drawn to.

Using our moodboard as inspiration. we've created a signature Miss Lolo living space (see below) that is unapologetically BOLD in its use of colour, texture, pattern and contrast.
You know us - we're full noise when it comes to making a statement, so an in-your-face pop of pink using RESENE 'SHOCKING' was just the ticket. Equal parts balance and contrast, we paired the paint with our playful paper of the month - Ducks by Aspiring Walls. For a confident focal point we used a vibrant, canary yellow sofa; added a black and white geometric rug to reflect the palette of the wallpaper and framed the space using a floor lamp and potted greenery. BOOM!
STYLIST'S TIP:
Patterns LOVE to be with other patterns, so don't be afraid to mix and match florals with stripes, geometrics with spots and ikat with animal.

SPEND, SPLURGE & SAVE STYLING...
It's super simple to pull this look off in your own home - we've done the hard yards for you with our spend, splurge and save styling advice. Simply SPEND on a Miss Lolo Clementine couch and MM Linen Velvet Ladybird Cushions. SPLURGE on a velvet Hugo Ottoman from MAMT, and a Philippe Stark 'Blast Coffee Table' from Backhouse NZ. SAVE with a Living & Co Grace Floor Lamp and Living & Co Nordic Rug; both from The Warehouse.
BLUSH & BLOOMS
Fashion transcends our BEAUTIFUL design project too, with Miss Lolo taking inspiration from the Isla dress by NZ/AU Design Duo 'Bird & Knoll', Mr Boxette Lizard bag by Deadly Ponies and pretty pumps from Scarpa. Our summer faves of Pink Champagne and pastel toned foliage also gave us some added colour cues this week. To compliment this magnificent mural - 'Poetic Petals' by Back to the Wall - we've used a barely-there blush on the floors using the prettiest of pinks - RESENE 'WAFER'.
When it comes to planning your next inteior project remember to look for inspiration in everyday objects. No matter your style preference - be it BOLD or BEAUTIFUL - don't be afraid to use colour & a plethora of pattern to create a truly unique and inspirational space.
